The Color Run

The Color Run 5k 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour is heading to Broadway at the Beach!  They’re hitting Myrtle Beach like never before with amazing new participant gear and original color-crazy race attractions!  It’s 5k magic like only The Color Run can do!  Get ready to change the way you look at running, getting fit, and having fun.  It’s time to run, it’s time to laugh, it’s time to live.  It’s time to be a Color Runner!

Join HealthPoint's Annual Turkey Trot Run & Walk at Brookgreen Gardens.  This area event is great for families and includes: 5k Race, 5k Walk, 1-Mile Family Fitness Walk and Turkey Trot (26.2 yards).  Check their website by clicking on Turkey Trot 5K above for the latest updates.

The Grand Strand's premiere Turkey Trot starts and finishes at the Surfside Pier in Surfside Beach, SC with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean!  It features a 10K, 5K, 1 mile and a FREE Kid's Tot Trot.  Over 1,300 runners will enjoy the benefits of joining this year’s Surfside Rotary Turkey Trot: high quality race shirt, great food (Bojangle Biscuits, chocolate milk); the top 3 Overall Winners will receive a free turkey from Bojangles.

The South's Grandest Christmas Show instills the true meaning of Christmas in your family with its combination of traditional Christmas classics and contemporary holiday favorites.  The South's Grandest Christmas Show is a southern family tradition on the Grand Strand with visitors and locals returning year after year.  Also featured in this year's show is comedian Ricky Mokel, who always puts a new twist on the Christmas season.  So, if you want to celebrate Christmas with an evening filled with song, dance and laughter, the Alabama Theatre is the place you want to be with your family and friends.

The 29th season of The Carolina Opry Christmas Special, “The Christmas Show of the South,” brings you another memorable season.  The 2014 season brings stunning change neatly blended with time-honored traditions.  New talent mingles with acclaimed rotating artists and long-standing Opry favorites.   In addition to a holiday brass section, new powerhouse vocalist Bibis Ellison will make her holiday debut.  Known for her soulful style and electric stage performances, Bibis brings an incredible mix to the stage.  “All That,” stars of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, are also back with all new dance material—and some big surprises.  All of these are joined by an award-winning cast of over 35 including Calvin Gilmore, Rita Gumm, Christie Templeton, Brad Long, Kym “Bogie” Shurbutt, Eric Gumm, a real horse-drawn sleigh and even real snow!

The Dickens Christmas Show is a unique national award winning event comprised of a multitude of shopping and entertainment options for individuals and groups alike. The cornerstone of the event is a Victorian Holiday Marketplace held in the 100,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  Here, against a Victorian Holiday background, you will find hundreds of period clad vendors selling everything from jewelry, gifts, toys, arts and crafts, gourmet foods, holiday décor and much more. There is something for everyone on your holiday list, but the fun doesn't stop there. Strolling Victorian Musicians, Tea Leaf Readers, Shadow Box Displays, a Life Sized Historic Santa through the Ages Exhibit and a real live Santa, each lend their own charm to the show.  Plus there are the elaborate Festival displays of Trees, Tables, Wreaths and the Festival of Worlds that add to the experience too!

Now in their 10th year of providing this holiday tradition to the Conway area.  The excitement starts Thursday night November 13th, 4:30-8:30 pm with a premier dining experience.  This event is the "go-to event" where patrons can sample some of the best restaurants of Conway and Horry County.  This affordable dining experience allows samples with pricing starting at only $1.00 each and a general admission of $5.00.  During the night meet friends, listen to live music and enjoy the "Event under the Tent" beside the historic Waccamaw River!

Saturday, November 15th, opening at 10 am you'll be treated to the beautiful Riverfront Park. This year they host the nationally acclaimed St. Nicholas BBQfest.  Enjoy a great day of fun, arts, crafts, food vendors, kids' activities, music, special entertainment and yes, some of the best BBQ for your palate.  The fully sanctioned South Carolina BBQ Association event, "The War between the States," provides bragging rights and huge cash awards for contestants from both North Carolina and South Carolina.  Who will you choose? The BBQ is available starting at 11:30 and served until it's gone.  A $10.00 wristband gives you 10 opportunities to sample the best!

30th Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta

Little River Inlet to Dock Holiday Marina

Each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the curtain rises on this spectacular maritime parade at the Little River Inlet at 5 pm and travels south, arriving at Dock Holidays Marina at 7 pm.  Gather your family and watch the parade as it passes various viewing areas along the waterway.  Remember to bring a new toy and drop it off at a collection point at any marina in Little River or North Myrtle Beach.  If the parade ends and you have not yet donated your toy, you can take it to Harbour Gate Marina.  With your donations of new, unwrapped toys and/or monetary offerings, you can help make sure that there is not a single child without a present to open on Christmas morning.

Come try La Belle Amie’s Island Fever Music Fest.  You’ll be surrounded by a beautiful vineyard, great wine and music.  Admission is reduced by $3 if you bring two canned/dry good food items for the area food bank.  Festival dates are subject to change.  Inclement weather may cause a last-minute postponement or cancellation, so check the website or call prior to coming out to the event.  

Art In The Park

Waccamaw Indian People 22nd Annual Intertribal Pow Wow

The 22nd Annual Arts Festival & Pow Wow will be held Saturday, November 1st and Sunday, November 2nd. They invite you to join them for this event. The gates will open at 11:00 am on both days. There will be two Grand Entries on Saturday, held at 1 pm and 6 pm. On Sunday there will be one Grand Entry held at 2 pm.

A new art show at the Richardson Gallery on the Conway Campus of Horry Georgetown Technical College features the Waterway Woodcarvers Club of Myrtle Beach has an exhibit through November 28th with more than 100 wood carvings by 19 artists.  Inquiries about the art, artists, art exhibitions, or gallery scheduling, may be directed to Peggy Saylor at 349-5269.

In Brookgreen Gardens' Fall season presentation,“Gullah Tings fa Tink Bout,”  Ron Daise, Vice President for Creative Education, will perform a concert of songs and readings from his CD of the same title.  Through a musical journey of rich imagery and evocative rhythms and instrumentation, viewers celebrate Gullah Geechee culture in the genres of traditional spiritual, blues, gospel stomp and clap, Gullah Geechee/West African pop, and a Gullah Geechee/West African/Caribbean blend.  Themes highlighted are African Diaspora; the common cultural connections of food ways, language, rice heritage, crafts, music; the tragedy of enslavement; the importance of family and the resilience of survival.  Programs in the Wall Lowcountry Center Auditorium are free with garden admission.
