[This article is intended for Plantation Resort timeshare owners. Everyone is welcome to read this article and get a glimpse into what it is like to own at Plantation Resort. If you are interested in owning with us give us a call at 1-800-845-5039.]

Sign up for the maintenance fee monthly payment plan and you’ll automatically be entered to win a year of free maintenance fees! Owners currently enrolled in the program are already entered into the contest. Imagine the fun you could have on your next vacation spending all that maintenance fee money! We’ll draw the lucky winner in February 2014.

Monthly Maintenance Details

Beginning in October of each year, maintenance fees are divided into 12 equal installments to be paid each month. For example, if your maintenance fee is due in January 2014, your first payment is made with your choice of a credit card, debit card or checking account/routing number in October 2013.
When you enroll, you choose when the payment will be drafted each month: the 5th, 10th, 15th or 20th. A minimal $2 service fee is included in each month’s payment. You also have the option to pay in full at any time without penalty. Simply contact the accounting department to pay the remaining balance.

"Our monthly payment plan is great because it enables you to divide your maintenance fee into easily manageable payments over many months rather than coming up with one lump sum right after the Holidays," says Plantation Resort‘s General Manager Karla Davis.

Monthly Maintenance Fee Benefits

The best part is once you enroll, you can make your vacation reservation immediately! Use your week even though the full maintenance fee hasn’t been paid. Karla Davis continues: "Thousands of owners are already enjoying the ease of paying their maintenance fee in monthly installments. Our goal is to make it easier for you to go on vacation."

For your convenience, there are several ways to sign up. Call 888-913-4477 between 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday and ask for the Accounting Department. Or, if you prefer, fill out the form on the back of your statement and mail it to 1250 US Highway 17 North, Surfside Beach, SC 29575 or fax it to 843-913-5002. Enroll today so you can be entered into the drawing and start your vacation plans right away. Enroll by September 25th to start your payment plan in October 2013!

Want to Be Healthy? Take a Vacation!

Do you want to know how to sleep better, feel happier and lower your cholesterol?  Studies around the world are showing that you may want to take a vacation in order to boost your health.  Sounds like an excellent excuse to take off and visit Plantation Resort!  Here are some of the reasons vacation affects your health:

Become a more effective employee

If your boss doesn’t immediately buy the health benefits explanation, tell them how it can benefit their business.  According to this study, Vacation may help you be more effective at your job.  By breaking the stress cycle that tends to accompany the work sphere, you refresh your ability to think through goal oriented projects.  This reduces undeveloped decisions that an overstressed mind tends to make.

Reclaim a healthy sleeping cycle

During vacation you are much more likely to get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep each night. This article suggests that on vacation you can just turn off the alarm and sleep to your heart’s content.  With a few full nights of sleep you will feel better and more productive.

Take a moment to de-stress

Avoid checking email, ignore the phone and relax.  Of course sometimes vacations can be stressful where children are involved.  This article recommends taking 2 vacations a year and making one of those vacations child-free.  Call the grandparents or hire a babysitter and head off on your own vacation to decompress, relax and reboot.

Help your heart

Take a vacation and avoid a heart attack.  One study showed that women who only took one vacation every 6 years was 8 times more likely to have a heart attack or other heart problems than women who took vacation 2 times a year. The study also followed men who were at risk for heart disease and those who took more frequent vacations tended to live longer.

If you want to get healthier, take some time off.  Plantation Resort has everything you need to have a healthy and happy vacation.  For an added boost to your heart health we also offer several options for exercise including bike rentals, exercise gym, swimming pools and aerobics classes.  For a reservation, call 1-800-845-5039 and move your health going in the right direction.

Shark Week Fun Facts - Celebrate Shark Week at Plantation Resort!

Shark Week Is Coming! Learn Something New about Sharks!

The countdown to Shark Week has begun!  On August 4th the Discovery Channel is launching the latest episodes of Shark Week.  In celebration, we went fishing for shark facts and now we’re serving them up to you.  Join the toothy fervor and find out more about our often misunderstood friends from the deep!

Even dogs get into shark week!
Did you know?

  • Sharks may seem scary, but you have a better chance of being killed by deer, bees or dogs.

  • Dentists must love sharks! Sharks never run out of teeth since they have rows of extras lined up should they happen to lose one.  They can grow up to 20,000 teeth in their lifetime!

  • Ever wonder why sharks are so agile in the water?  They don’t have any bones!  Instead of bones, their structure comes from a skeleton of cartilage, which is strong yet flexible.

  • Touch a shark and you’ll notice that its skin has a rough texture.  This texture comes from the fact that sharks have denticles, which are rougher than regular fish scales.  Shark skin is so rough, some people have even used it as sandpaper.

  • Don't swim at night!  Sharks are especially active in the evenings.  That is the natural time for them to hunt.

  • Fishermen kill between 30 million and 100 million sharks each year Fishing has put at least 75 shark species on the endangered species list.

  • After eating their favorite food, seal, Great White sharks can go without eating for up to about two months.

  • Some sharks are so big, it’s a wonder they don’t sink to the bottom of the ocean. What keeps them afloat? They have large, fatty, oily livers that help them float.

  • Shark ancestors swam the seas over 400 million years ago.  Modern sharks evolved into the lovable creatures they are today around 100 million years ago.  That’s even older than the dinosaurs!

  • At least we've said goodbye to the gigantic Megaladon.  This large shark from 16 million years ago weighed in at about 50 tons and reached lengths of 60 feet long.  But not to worry, it went extinct about 1.6 million years ago.

If you're still nervous about sharks, feel free to safely swim in our outdoor pool or lazy river.  They're guaranteed 100% shark-free!  If you need to get your shark fix, we also offer our guests discounted tickets to the Ripley’s Aquarium where you'll see lots of sharks and have an opportunity to even touch sharks.  To find out how you can celebrate shark week at Plantation Resort, call 1-800-845-5039.
