Independence Day 2012 in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is known for celebrating Independence Day in style, so if you're vacationing here during the 4th of July, prepare for food, fun and festivals! There's no shortage of patriotism along the Grand Strand. We have an abundance of events to keep our fellow Americans entertained all week long. Here is your guide to celebrating our beloved nation's 236th birthday.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Baseball Game, Tuesday, July 3rd, 7:00pm

Get into the Independence Day spirit by treating yourself to one of America's favorite pastimes- baseball. The Grand Strand is home to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Texas Rangers. On Tuesday, July 3rd, head down to BB&T Coastal Field at 7:00pm to watch the Pelicans take on the Salem Red Sox. While you're at the ballpark, enjoy an all-American meal of hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn! Be sure to stay for all the innings because the game's grand finale includes a spectacular fireworks show over the stadium.

Independence Day 8k, Wednesday, July 4th, 7:00am

Runners, be on your marks! MacGuire Law Firm presents the 3rd annual Independence Day 8k at Market Common. 1 mile and 5k races are also available. To you receive a race day t-shirt, be sure to register in advance.

Myrtle Beach Speedway, Wednesday, July 4th, 7:00pm

Extreme racing, automobile crashes and fiery explosions! Watch a fast-paced display of true American grit and courage as the Myrtle Beach Speedway captivates you with death defying feats at the Wheels of Destruction Thrill show. You'll be endlessly entertained by motorcycle stunts, school bus races, car wrecks and rollovers. The final thrill of the night -- the fireworks extravaganza!

Surfside Beach Festival, Wednesday, July 4th, 6:00pm

Looking for family friendly fun this Independence Day? Make way to Surfside Pier at the corner of Surfside Drive and Ocean Boulevard to spend a relaxing day on the beach until 6:00pm when the city block party begins! Enjoy live entertainment, inflatables for the kids, giveaways, refreshments, and free ice cream. This celebration also ends with- you guessed it!- fireworks at 9:30pm.

Murrells Inlet Boat Parade, Wednesday, July 4th, 9:00am

Celebrate the 4th with a big helping of local tradition! Murrells Inlet holds their 29th annual Boat Parade with this year's theme, "Red, White & View! Inlet-style Tried and True." Stroll down the famous marshwalk while viewing dozens of boats decked out in patriotic swag and decor. The best boat "float" wins the coveted Bob Hendrick trophy! Murrells Inlet is the seafood capital of South Carolina, so grab lunch at one of the restaurants located along the marshwalk. If you're feeling a big surge of patriotism, buy a Boat Parade t-shirt from the local Boy Scout troop. The event kicks off at high tide (for you landlubbers, that means 9:00am) and concludes with a 10:00pm fireworks display off Veterans Pier.

Plantation Resort Features: Garden Update and Family Photo Hot-Spot

The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, the bees are buzzing, and the eggplant is growing! The eggplant may seem out of place for this beach town, but not for Plantation Resort.

Just a few months ago, Plantation Resort’s landscaping team began cultivating an on-site garden consisting of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, blueberries, raspberries, eggplant, onion, pepper, herbs and more. The garden is now flourishing and our chef will be utilizing our locally-grown natural produce to enhance the Resort's cuisine while creating a special culinary experience for our guests.

We've got more in full bloom than just our garden. Throughout the Resort, you'll find a variety of tropical flowers, lush landscape, and swaying palmettos. Enjoy the beauty of your surroundings and take an iconic family picture at the new stone bench by the Outdoor Pool.

Another addition to Plantation Resort is the picturesque fountain, recently installed at the base of the Presidential Villas marquee. Vibrant flowers surround this new water feature, creating a striking entrance to our villas. Capture vacation memories by snapping a few photos with this ideal backdrop.

Summer is a wonderful time to vacation at Plantation Resort. We still have some availibility; just call 1-888-913-4477 to book your stay and you’ll be enjoying the warm Carolina sun, fresh produce and beautiful scenery in no time!

Mother Earth Day Spa at Plantation Resort

"I have been a Professional Massage Therapist for 24 years and [Mother Earth Day Spa] is where I go to get my massage when I am at the beach!" - Michael Picard

A blissful escape awaits you at Plantation Resort's Mother Earth Day Spa where guests enjoy the highest quality in facials, massages, reflexology and sunless spray tan. A visit to our spa is the perfect way to relax and be pampered during your vacation.
The Luxorious Couples Massage
Start with a hydrating body wrap (a great option for those suffering from too much sun!) then follow it up with a luxurious facial by a licensed esthetician. Make the visit extra special by scheduling a romantic and memorable couples massage, pregnancy massage or try the exotic hot stone massage. Before your experience begins, your therapist will discuss problem areas, health history and massage expectations to tailor a unique spa experience just for you.

Golf enthusiasts can better their game by scheduling a one-hour golfer's massage focused on improving a player's flexibility and range of motion while relieving sore, tired muscles. Reflexology -- the ancient Asian art of foot massage  -- is an ideal treatment for athletes, super-moms and the over-worked. Reflexology targets pressure points in the foot to relieve tension throughout the entire body. Some equate the benefits of reflexology to a full-body massage, while others deem it more relaxing and therefore better at relieving bodily pain and stress.
Pamper Yourself with a Reflexology Treatment
Before you hit the beaches, get a healthy sun-kissed glow with our popular spray tan. Avoid the sun's harmful rays while enjoying the benefits of a summertime tone. After playing hard in the sand and surf, soothe your aching muscles with the "Pamper Me Please" salon package. This popular special includes a facial, massage, foot soak and scrub, with a half-hour reflexology massage.

All of our Mother Earth Day Spa employees are Nationally Certified Massage Therapists and boast 30+ years of spa experience. They continue to participate in additional yearly classes to learn new techniques and refine their skills. Salon founder, Ellen Brady, also teaches at local colleges where she instills a passion for massage therapy and healing.

Let Mother Earth Day Spa at Plantation Resort set a mood of relaxation for your vacation. To schedule an appointment please call 843-913-5060. For additional information on products, therapists and services visit their Facebook page here.
