Where you can play in Myrtle Beach in April?


With so many exciting activities coming to Myrtle Beach this April, we simply had to share them with you!  We've compiled a  list of some of the most enticing activities for children and adults going on in Myrtle Beach this April so that you can plan your perfect vacation for your family.

Sculpture Exhibition - "Equine Spirit: The Horse in American Art"
Brookgreen Gardens

January 25 – April 27

This exhibit explores the history of the horse as subject matter for art in America and showcases important examples of work from the Brookgreen collection by Anna Hyatt Huntington, Charlotte Dunwiddie, and Marilyn Newmark, alongside borrowed works by other renowned sculptors and painters of horses.  Exhibition is free with garden admission.

Become a citizen scientist in this Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) sponsored project.  All you need is an interest in frogs.  Orientation and materials will be provided so you will be ready to listen when the spring season starts.  The program is free with garden admission.  Call (843) 235-6016 for reservations.

Get outside and have some fun while participating in an extravagant array of activities designed for all ages including the entire family!  Various programs will run continuously from 10 am to 3 pm.  Cook over a campfire, throw a cast net, create some nature crafts, meet some live animals, go on a scavenger hunt, navigate with a compass, learn about shells, and much more!  A complete program schedule will be on our website two weeks before the event.

Quidditch World Cup

Quidditch is an intense, co-ed contact sport played by over 300 teams around the world that even Harry Potter would be proud of.   This April, 80 of those teams will descend upon North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to crown the sport’s world champion– the winner of the seventh annual International Qudditch Association (IQA) World Cup.  Come join the crowd, cheer, and be part of the most unique event in sports.  After all, there are lots of championships, but there’s only one IQA WORLD CUP.

Join sculptor-in-residence, Jim Licaretz, in the Lowcountry Center Auditorium when he presents a program about his work.  The talk is free with garden admission.

Sunset Meditation

Friday, April 11, 6:30 pm

Relax into an easy guided yoga meditation in the calm of nature as the day ends.  This hour-long experience is for ages 12 and up.  Please bring chairs or blankets for the meditation circle.  No yoga postures required.  Free with park admission.

One of the most popular Brookgreen events all year, the plantacular sale is a one-stop shopping experience for high-quality plants grown in Brookgreen's greenhouses.  Horticulture staff and volunteers are on-hand to give expert advice for all your gardening needs.  Come early for the best selection.

Learn about the loggerhead sea turtle, and how you can have a positive impact on their nesting and feeding habitats.  There will be no live turtles at this program.  (1 hour) Free with park admission.

Myrtle Beach International Film Festival

April 23-26
Films and film makers from around the world will showcase their work at the Carmike theater at Broadway at the Beach.  The MBIFF has received prestigious national and international awards which includes recognition as one of the Top 25 film festivals to submit to by Movie Maker Magazine.

“The Reign of Rice Lecture Series”

Andrew Agha, archeologist, Archeological Research Collective, Charleston, SC, “The Archeology of Rice: Digging for the Roots of Cultivation.”  Lecture is in the Lowcountry Center Auditorium and is free with garden admission.
