On mural day we invite you to release your inner artist and paint!  If you love the look of wet paint and the feeling of brushes swishing across the canvas or dabbing gently at details, we have the activity for you!

Come play Picasso at our complimentary mural activity where yards of paper and armloads of paint supplies come out of the closet for you to express your vacation-spirited self! Whatever bright, fantastic works of art you can think up, we want it for our walls!  We'll provide the paint and paper, and you provide the vision.  You may discover that painting adds a satisfying touch to make your vacation experience a true masterpiece. 

After the activity, bring friends and family by the Activity Center where your artwork will be prominently displayed for all to see!

Experience What's New at Brookgreen Gardens!

New Plants, New Animals, New Music: There's Always Something New to See at Brookgreen

Just when you thought Brookgreen Gardens couldn’t be more beautiful, they planted over 60,000 bulbs of Caladiums (Elephant Ears), and now these beautiful plants are showing their leafy heads!  Myrtle Beach may be known for its elaborate shows and exciting rides but only a few miles down the road in Murrells Inlet, you will find an oasis of peace and old world beauty within the walls of Brookgreen Gardens.  Because there is so much to do and see, we suggest that you buy the tickets lasting 7 days that you need several days to take it all in.  There is always something new to see at Brookgreen and here are some of this year’s special events:

Live Oak Allée

At 300 years old, these majestic Oaks have rooted themselves deeply into the character of these gardens.  They were planted in the 1700s, back when the area was a rice plantation.  Their moss covered branches reach high and swing low, making their mark over the whole area, providing a shady and impressive entranceway into the gardens.  Now, they are even more impressive as they dwell within a sea of Caladiums where 40,000 of the 60,000 new plants now grow.  For a picture perfect experience of old fashioned southern charm the Live Oak Allée is a must-see.

Brookgreen Zoo

The vast landscape of Brookgreen draws lots of wildlife. Come see  Deer, birds of prey, foxes, alligators and otters in their native habitat at Brookgreen's Lowcountry Zoo.   On Thursdays this summer, co-star of CBS’s Carolina Safari, Jerry Walls, will be giving interactive presentations with live animals at the Campbell Center for American Sculpture outdoor patio (in the zoo area).  We’ve included a schedule here (programs begin at 5:00pm):

Live Music at Brookgreen

Cool off at the end of the day with a delicious meal and great music.  Every Friday from July 5^th to August 9^th musicians will play at 7:00pm on the Pavilion Lawn above the Pavilion Restaurant.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair to watch the concert up close and personal.  You can bring your own dinner and eat at the picnic area near the Jessamine Pond, or the restaurant will remain open until 8:00pm.  See the schedule below for your favorite music or come discover a new favorite:

“Bingo!” rings out from the activity center every Monday, Tuesday and Friday as players from all over "fill up" their Bingo cards.  We’ve delivered several creative variations of Bingo to add an extra level of fun to an already popular pastime, so come cool off with Bingo in the activity center.

Burger Bingo

Everyone wins with Burger Bingo since a burger comes with the game. Starting at 12:30 on Mondays, we’ll take your order for either a burger or cheeseburger and then the fun begins! Play to win snacks to go along with your juicy burger.

Surprise Bingo

At $2 per card, you can line your table with as many Bingo cards as you want to up your chances of winning one of our surprise prizes!  Is it a beach ball? Is it jewelry?  Is it cologne?  The anticipation is killing me!  Open your winning bag and see what’s inside!

Feeling lucky? Well grab your lucky bingo card and see if you can win the lottery jackpot.  This game is for folks 18 and over because we are handing out actual lottery tickets to anyone who wins a round.
